CAMPAIGN
ISSUES (See
Ann's Voting Record)
We
all know the reality of economics—once prices go up, they
rarely go back down. With our local economy struggling, we need
to keep more money in the pockets of working families; not increase
taxes. As we see price increases at the pump, the grocery store,
and fuel to heat our homes we need to keep more of our money.
I
support cutting the red tape and stopping tax increases for
job creators. Not only do we need to keep the jobs we have in
the district, but we need to proactively attract new business
and industries that can boost our local economy rather than
sending our labor force into the Twin Cities. I support making
District 28 a great place to live, raise a family, work, and
retire.
Pro Life
Kent
Muschinske is the Pro Life candidate for the 28th Assembly District.
He believes that every life should be protected under the Constitution
of the United States.
Unlike
Kent's opponent, Kent is committed to the Life Issue and supports
legislation that will protect the innocent and provide help
to families faced with the the unique challenges and tough decisions
of a crisis pregnacy.
Energy
Policy
We
need to address our energy needs by accessing and utilizing
our nation’s own reserves of fossil fuels (oil, coal,
and natural gas), improving and increasing our refining capacity,
and by developing and incorporating alternatives to petroleum
based products (like hydrogen and bio fuels) as constituent
elements in the long term energy solution.
We
need to expand our capacity to produce cheaper and cleaner electrical
energy by building more nuclear power plants and further developing
other renewable sources such as wind, water, and solar.
Health
Care :: Affordable, Accessible, High Quality
I
believe a solution to our health care needs must include three
distinct groups of participants: the consumer, the insurers,
and the providers.
As
consumers, we all need to increase our own
awareness of health care issues and take personal responsibility
by adopting healthy lifestyles into our daily routines.
Our
family budget must include provisions for health care expenses
such as insurance premiums, medications, routine exams and check
ups, unexpected medical necessirties. We spend hundreds of dollars
on internet subscriptions and satellite TV but few of us actually
budget for our own health care!
The
insurers must continue to develop and improve
their services including alternative products for non-traditional
risk groups, Health Savings Accounts (HSA), and bundling policies.
They must maintain their economic viability in a competitive
industry by controlling overhead costs, eliminating wasteful
spending and scrutinizing commissions and bonuses.
The
providers must continue to offer quality care
at competitive prices. Their part of the overall solution is
complicated by the need to incorporate the latest in procedures
and technology as well as to attract and retain motivated and
competent health care professionals.
I
believe the role of the State Government is to be a facilitator
and not an administrator. I support bring together representatives
of these groups to find a solution that will allow all of us
access to the best health care in the world!
Why
Vote for Kent?
Work
Ethic: I grew up on a small farm in Northwestern Wisconsin
and I know first hand what it means to ‘make hay while
the sun shines.’ The window of opportunity to complete
a given task is often limited and one has to labor intensively
at times to finish the job. This is most certainly true within
the confines of a legislative session and I know how to work
hard to represent the best interests of the citizens of the
28th Assembly District.
Decision
making: My training and experience as an officer and
navigator in the United States Air Force and as a professional
pilot have given me the skills necessary to make crucial decisions
in a timely and confident manner. These skills will serve me
well as I introduce and debate important legislation affecting
my constituency in Northwest Wisconsin.
Poise
and Composure: The nature of aviation and the stress
of combat present situations that require immediate assessment
and resolution. The ability to assess conflict and implement
a successful solution in a calm and measured manner is a skill
I’ve had opportunity to practice—one necessary to
successfully resolve the many issues facing our legislature
in the coming term.
The
issues facing the citizens of our district are not partisan
in nature, nor are they unfamiliar. These are the same issues
that have plagued us for decades—they beg for strong leadership
and innovative solutions.
We
need a change from those that support the ‘tax and spend’
mentality that has gripped our state and crippled our economy.
We need a change from those that are more focused on taking
over health care and making it more expensive than reforming
the system and making it more affordable.
We
need a change from those that would rather impose obstructive
regulations and raise taxes on job creators and energy producers
than retain jobs here in Wisconsin and control energy prices
to help stop draining family checkbooks.
"Out
of necessity often comes opportunity"
I
believe this to be such an opportunity—an opportunity
to change things for the better and I believe my experiences
have given me a unique set of leadership skills to implement
such change.
It
has been my privilege to serve my country in the past, and I
look forward to extending that service as a representative of
the 28th Assembly District.
